William Shatner, born March 22, 1931, is an actor, singer, and pop culture icon who has had a six-decade-plus career. Best known for his role as Captain James T. Kirk on the original ‘Star Trek’. The Canadian talent also played veteran police sergeant in T. J. Hooker on TV from 1982 to 1986. From 2004 until 2008, he starred as attorney Denny Crane in the legal drama The ‘Practice’ and in its spinoff series Boston Legal, winning two Emmys for the role.
In addition to his acting accolades, he is a celebrated recording artist, lauded for his unique, spoken word renditions of pop songs. He’s covered of “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”, “Mr. Tambourine Man”, and famously, Elton John’s “Rocketman”.
In 2021, Shatner flew to space aboard a Blue Origin sub-orbital capsule. At age 90, he became the oldest person to fly to space and one of the first 600 to do so
