1. Clint began his career in New England before moving to England!
It all started professionally for Clint back in 2004 when he made his debut for New England Revolution. After scoring 25 goals in 71 games, he impressed scouts in England and was soon transferred to then Premier League team Fulham. He scored 50 goals in 5 seasons for the small London-based team, before earning a big $9 million to Tottenham Hotspur. After one season at Spurs, he came back to the US to play for the Seattle Sounders in 2013.
2. He was the first American player to score a hat-trick in the Premier League.
Clint has the unique honor of being the first American to score three goals in a Premier League game. In January, 2012 he got a hat-trick against Newcastle in a 5-2 win for Fulham. Bravo, Clint!
3. Clint Dempsey is closing in on Landon Donovan’s all-time goal record.
The master marksman has hit the back of the net 48 times in 120 games for the USA national team. If he continues to bang in the goals, he will surely break Landon Donovan’s all-time record of 57.
4. The Texan is a rapper!
Aside from his world class soccer skills, Clint is known to spit lyrics as good as any rapper out there. His 2006 US men’s soccer team promo rap “Don’t Tread On Me” was a YouTube hit and earned him the moniker of the coolest soccer star out there. Watch the video below!
5. Where did he get the nickname Deuce?
Clint has admitted in past interviews that he gave that nickname to himself! It comes from the number 2 jersey he wore at college all the way through to starring for New England.
