Samira Wiley (born on April 15, 1987 in Washington, D.C) is an American actress. She graduated from the Juilliard School in 2010, where she trained in theater performance. One of Samira’s friends at Juilliard told her about an open audition for the TV show, Orange Is The New Black, and she went on to land a role in the Netflix series. Samira also has some modeling experience, as she’s appeared on the covers of OUT and Maniac Magazine.

Samira is best known for her role as Poussey Washington on the drama/comedy series Orange Is The New Black, opposite Taylor Schilling. Samira also does voiceover work for the Walking Dead: Michonne video game, and appears on season 3 of You’re The Worst.
Personal Life:
Samira is openly gay, and got engaged to her partner, Lauren Morelli, on Oct. 4, 2016. Lauren and Samira met on set of Orange Is The New Black, as Lauren is one of the head writers. Samira shared the engagement news by posting a picture of her diamond ring on Instagram. The couple tied the knot on Mar. 25, 2017 in Palm Springs.
