1. He took his stage name from an audio filter.
Party decided on his unusual stage name from seeing an FL Studio audio filter setting called “PartyNextDoor” He decided to stylize it into all caps for his performing identity.
3. He is Canadian by birth but Caribbean by descent.
Party is a native of Mississauga, Ontario, growing up just outside Toronto. He’s of Caribbean descent, as his mother is Jamaican and his father is Trinidadian.
3. He is pals and collaborators with fellow Canuck Drake.
Drake signed Party to his OVO records in 2013, originally working under the name Jahron B. as a singer/producer/writer and music mixer before taking on his new identity as PARTYNEXTDOOR. He produced three hits off Drake’s smash album If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late: “Legend,” “Preach,” and “Wednesday Night Interlude.” Drizzy is featured on Party’s brand new single “Come And See Me.”
4. While he raps, he’s still an amazing vocalist who trained in a church choir.
As noted in his very first interview with Fader magazine in 2015, Party honed his vocal chops in a church choir, which he attended with his mom, who sang in it as well. When he joined the choir as a preteen, the magazine revealed he was so advanced for his age that he was bumped up to the program’s senior group.
5. He was discovered on Myspace.com as a teenager.
Party was discovered on Myspace by a manager when he was 17-years-old. He packed up and moved to L.A. and a year later at 18, Party signed a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell as a songwriter. He submitted songs to Justin Bieber, 22, but later decided he didn’t want to write for other people and decided to write for himself as an artist.
